On postcard: Badouzi coast, Keelung
Badouzi is situated on a little peninsula northwest of the city and remotely facing Heping Island. According to the legend, Badouzi was originally the place where the Pingpu tribes lived and only became a fishing village after the Han Chinese moved in. One of the Eight Sceneries of Keelung is the beautiful scenery of the “Sunset Picture of Badouzi”, which was when the fishing boats returned during sunset in the olden days.
There is currently a coastal park in Badouzi, which is built with complete trails, pavilions, and viewing platforms overlooking the ocean and Keelung Islet. Visitors may also take the stairs down to Wonder Valley which is covered by green grass, and where butterflies and birds fly together. The seacoast contains mostly terrain and coastal erosion, forming unique stones and rock formations with unlimited imagination. During Autumn and Spring, this place is also ideal for bird-watching and colorful scenes of bird migration.
